c3 VisionLAB presents: State of the Arts 2010

In June 2010 c3: VisionLAB will present STATE OF THE ARTS: a think-tank system symposium addressing the function of Arts and Media in Culture and Society. Inspired in part by the LA Opera Ring, this inquiry will function as a celebration of the Ring Festival LA and key themes around Richard Wagner, as well as serve as an inagural event that will launch the creation of a global arts and media node in partnership with the The Millennium Project and the 2009 State of the Future annual report. This unique symposium will function as a transdisciplinary inquiry into the function of art and media in society by bringing together thought leaders in the areas of the arts and media, technology, science, creativity and consciousness studies.

It will begin with an introductory event to be held on Monday, November 16, 2009. The c3: Center for Conscious Creativity & GATE (Global Alliance for Transformational Entertainment), in collaboration with IMERSA (Immersive Media Entertainment, Research, Science and Arts) and Creative Visions Foundation invite you to a special evening of light, sound and inquiry on Monday, November 16th, 2009.

Return to the Source - The Art of Conscious LovingOur event on "Return to the Source - The Art of Conscious Loving" was one filled with love. Every participant brought openness, curiousity, and warmth, and the event did not end until the early morning hours. We had some interesting conversations around vocabulary some more heady, some more fueled with emotion - just the right mix for feeling with the head and thinking with the heart.

The first talk "Intimacy and the Art of Relating" was recorded and can be viewed here.

The other presenters were absolutely lovely as well. The multi-media presentations by Davin were stunning, Rhonda Casale's talk most definitely thought-provoking, we had a special sneak preview presentation of Penny Slinger and Dhiren Dasu's new visual art piece, and beautiful priestess Robin lead Puja's and performed an enchanting dance of goddess liberation.

During the evening, several book and materials were presented, click below for resource links...

c3 to participate in LA city-wide Arts Festival PDF Print E-mail

LA Opera Ring Festival
In 2010 LA Opera will produce Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle, a four part presentation of dramatic music. Just as Wagner's originally conceived Ring festival in Bayreuth Germany involved the whole town in a celebration of the arts, the LA Opera has invited 50 arts organizations across Los Angeles to participate in this production. c3 is proud to be one of these organizations and has been encouraged to explore Wagner from a Conscious Creative perspective.
c3's original inspiration came in part from the Florentine Camerata Society, a group of artists, philosophers and humanists, who, in the late 1500s commissioned the first opera in an effort to create a multi-dimensional transformational experience which integrated all the available art forms of the time.
Similarly, Wagner set out to go beyond "opera" and art as entertainment,  to create a new kind of transformational experience with his concept of dramatic music, fully embodied in the Ring Cycle.
In addition, Wagner's myth for man expressed in the work, encourages the birth of a new human, i.e, a human who takes his rightful place as conscious creator of reality amidst the demise of the old gods and the end of the dominion of gold. Apropos themes for our times and for the core mission of c3.
We are excited about this opportunity and have begun brainstorming on how we can explore a 21st century vision of Gesamtkunstwerk - Wagner's German word meaning "total work of art," describing the integration of all the currently available arts.
As the opera commences the first two productions of the series, we are looking forward to this spectacle unfolding.  In these times of perceived scarcity and fear based thinking, we believe it is particularly important to focus on the power of creativity, abundantly available all around us.
